Reducing Global Carbon Emissions and Noise

The Aerial Filmworks team believes in doing our part to maintain a carbon neutral planet through an investment in carbon offset credits. In addition, we review every flight path to determine a balance between noise and fuel consumption.

Investing in Carbon Offset Credits

Aerial Filmworks is a “White Badge” partner with TerraPass to purchase carbon offset credits for every hour of flight time that our equipment is on a project. Carbon offset credits help maintain a carbon neutral planet.

Our criterion is that the institution must fund current programs producing a measurable, verified reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Some institutions fund future reduction of carbon emissions- we want to reduce climate changes now, not later.

Smart Flying and Reducing Noise Impact

Helicopters create noise through their rotor blade systems. Although new blade systems and enclosed tail rotor systems reduce noise to a certain degree, noise remains a factor. The pilot has the ability to reduce helicopter noise through altitude, landing and take-off patterns and airspeed. For example, a Bell 206B series aircraft is slightly quieter on the right side during take-off and normal flight, and quieter on the left during descent or landing.

The Aerial Filmworks team plans every flight in advance taking into account the optimum flight path to reduce the amount of time in the air and the avoidance of environmental or noise sensitive areas. We use state-of-the-industry GPS devices in conjunction with aviation maps to plan our routes. Avoiding known wildlife areas, or remaining downwind of the area reduces our impact. Fortunately, our Cineflex with a 42X lens allows us to zoom in while remaining as much as a mile away. The goal, of course, is to always deliver stunning aerial footage… flying in a more earth-friendly way is better for everyone.

Aerial HD Stock Footage

Our commitment extends to shooting aerial stock footage as an earth-friendly alternative for environmentally aware clients. By using existing cost-effective stock footage, our clients pro-actively prevent further carbon emissions.
