Recording Options

Your Choice: Tape or Digital

Aerial Filmworks provides a selection of recording options- our clients are not locked into a single choice. We have both tape and digital formats available.

Adding a digital deck as a secondary recording option to tape delivers a “digital daily” that can be reviewed in the helicopter, or immediately afterwards. The digital deck eliminates the concern of having to replay a tape while in the field.

Field Editing

Digital files can be edited on a laptop in the field, and uploaded or emailed immediately.
Both of our digital deck options can be jam-synched to the primary tape deck for identical time code. Field editors can work from the digital files while the full-resolution 4:4:4 tapes are being delivered and captured.

TAPE SOLUTIONS
Sony SRW1 (Dual-Link 4:4:4)	Sony HDW-S280
Sony's top of the line recording deck using HDCAM SR tape stock for archival and feature film work. Many frame rates including 23.98p, 25p, 29.97p, 50p and 60p, plus interlaced. Record up to 880 Mbits per second. Three recording modes: SQ providing 440 Mbps in both 4:4:4 or 4:2:2, and HQ mode allowing for 2x speed recording yielding 880 Mbps in full band RGB 4:4:4. Uses Sony BCT-40SR stock. recording time at 29.97p 4:2:2 is 40 minutes, and 50 minutes at 23.98p.	Sony's highest quality portable HDCAM deck. Frame rates including 23.98p, 25p, and 29.97p, plus interlaced.

Digital Deck Options

We have 2 lightweight, durable and portable solutions for digital recording. Aerial Filmworks provides the digital media, and can provide the download and archival back-up services upon request.

DIGITAL DECKS
AJA KiPro	NanoFlash
Records HD video direct to Apple ProRes and ProRes HQ formats for instant use in Final Cut Pro. Jam-synch TC available. Our KiPro comes with two 128 Gb solid state drives to eliminate any issue from helicopter vibration.	Records high quality HD files in Quicktime (Final Cut Pro), native MXF (Avid, Sony Vegas) or MPEG formats direct to compact flash cards. Jam-synch TC available. We use the highest bit rate 32Gb and 64Gb SanDisk cards available. Recording time varies with codec and bit rate choice.
$350 per day. 3x week.	$300 per day. 3x week.

The Cineflex has BNC connectors for both HD SDI (single or dual-link) and SD output. We can simultaneously record to 2 or more decks in 4:2:2 format. In addition, we always have AJA HD Distribution Amps available to deliver up to 4 single link HD SDI streams.
